A Grand Easter

So Easter was last Sunday and the whole weekend was nonstop with the preparations for the fun day.  Today, is my grandfather's birthday... Happy Birthday, Ga!!! Even though you don't have internet access in your home and will likely never see this.  So we also celebrated that on Sunday, as well.

I have deemed it nuts that I have so many of those stupid plastic eggs.  I have not a clue as to how I have acquired so many, but I have.  I am proud of myself for using the baskets from last year and buying some goodies for the boys to fill them up with.  Not too shabby, huh?

So I set them out on the table before the boys came in the house after church.  Speaking of boys and church... check us out looking sharp for church on Easter Sunday.

Later my family joined us for Birthday Cake and Easter Eggs!  I woke up at 8am to make this cake from scratch!  It's The Pioneer Woman's recipe for The Best Chocolate Cake. Ever.  And my goodness it's not for the faint at heart with almost 4 sticks of butter and a pound of powdered sugar!  A must try if you can handle shear chocolate high bliss.  God Bless, The Pioneer Woman!

Some people struggled with patience during the egg decorating.

But not to worry, he's a resilient little guy.

We decided to hide the candy-filled eggs in the front yard this year.  The backyard, well, um is a mess and we haven't taken the time clean it up properly.  Ok, the truth is no one wants to pick up dog poop on Easter... there, I said it.

The boys had a blast hunting for eggs... again we over filled and had around 60 eggs.  Preston took a bit to warm up but with the help of Great Grandmother aka Nawnie, he picked it up quickly.  Miles, of course, had no issues.

Victor and I with dueling cameras... we got that video camera solely using our Amex pts, so by goodness we will use that free memory maker!!

Keep a look out for video footage this time next year!  No, seriously, I'll get on it... really I will!  In fact, I plan to have most of the pictures on the website THIS week!  Look at me go!

After the egg hunt we sat down for dinner and enjoyed a yummy fajita dinner.  Gosh, they were good.  Everyone was highly annoyed with my bright idea to savour the moment.  Oh well, they'll thank me later.

See the drool drops?  Miles almost lost a finger... it was dangerous at that table.

After dinner we got a visit from the Easter Turkey!  Yep, you heard that right.  We figured the Easter Bunny must have been busy having fajitas with his family and sent a sub in his place.  He sure was noisy but very happy to stop and take pictures.

As you can tell we had a very nice Easter with family.  But the reason for the holiday isn't for the Easter Bunny and candy, it's because Jesus rose.  Miles said it best in the car on the way home from church, "He was put in a box then said WHAT?! I gotta get outta here!"  And he did and for that I am thankful.
